The short research study is part of the GCRF One Health Poultry Hub to investigate economic incentives and barriers that govern the Bangladesh poultry sector with a focus on existing agricultural and livestock policies. The hub team recently published a Guidance Memo for Tiny Beam Fund on Identifying Economic and Financial Drivers of Industrial Livestock Production - the Case of the Global Chicken Industry. The document investigates asymmetries of power relations and policy formulations that give rise to corporate concentration in livestock industries using the case study of poultry. The memo includes a case study for India linking the global poultry genetics industry to Indian production systems. This project will extend this research to a new case study country, Bangladesh. The research fellow/assistant will conduct research on linkages between international finance and concentration of power in the genetics industry to production systems in Bangladesh. The researcher will also scope the policy landscape for Vietnam, which is another study site for the Poultry Hub. The researcher will work under the supervision of Drs Mehroosh Tak and Ivo Syndicus at RVC and Ambarish Karamchedu at Kings College London.
